Our 12U White team played in the Hot Summer Daze tournament
hosted by Paso
Robles on the California central coast. The first game was
against Paso Robles and we finished with a 9-0 victory. From
there, the rest of the weekend was like a cage fight with a
scrappy NOVA 12U White taking on much bigger, and perhaps
better, teams. King City was in the lead until the last inning.
Up 9-3, they saw NOVA fight and claw its way back twice to a 9-9
tie. It was during this game that several injuries caused many
unexpected position and game changes. Sunday's games began at 8
AM and we won our first 2 games. The championship game was
against the Coast Riptide. The heat, injuries and exhaustion
were taking their toll. We put girls in new, never practiced
positions and hoped for the best. A combination of a home run
from Stephani Messina, our stellar defense, and our dynamic
pitching duo of Marialena Ahern and Kavita Prasad, led us to
victory with a score of 4-3. It was a gutsy group of girls that
won that tournament by digging deep and playing through injury,
headaches and nausea to win the championship. The kids and
parents were thrilled, but exhausted and the coaches couldn't be
any prouder of their team's performance and championship win

Congratulations
to the 8U’s on winning another championship! They played at the
Redwood City Summer Slam and came away with the championship and
a 6-0 record. There were 8 teams in the tournament and the girls
just took it one game at a time and kept on rolling. Counting
our last tournament (5-0) we've won 11 games in a row. One
amazing stat is that in the 6 games played we outscored the
opposition 33-4. We only gave up 1 run in the final 3 games we
played in on Sunday. The defense for this team is incredible.
The pitching is spectacular as well. The most impressive part is
that every girl contributed in each victory. The girls have
gelled so well and are playing at a level beyond 8U for sure. A
fun sight was getting the last out on a called 3rd strike and
the girls coming off the field, jumping, hugging and tossing
their visors. It was a long weekend in the heat but that didn't
faze these very talented young ladies. I think the coaches were
a little worse for wear at the end! There are some really good
players coming to 10U next year and all want to continue playing
Nova next summer. Great to see and hear. Game Scores: 3-1

Quicksilver - Championship Game The fan support was also a huge
plus. Many parents brought out their friends and relatives to
watch. It was loud and lively throughout each game. “The cheers
are still bouncing around in my head!” said Bice.
